Height Increase 101 - Exercise

If you're still in the process of growing, or are still below 25, there are a number of things you can do to increase your height and speed the process along.

The first thing, of course, is your diet. Foods rich in protein, calcium, amino acids, and calories, you will give your body the energy and nutrients it needs to grow and renew itself. These nutrients are also essential if you're looking to increase your muscle mass or grow taller.

There are many scams out there that'll promise you increased height if you take certain pills. Please do not fall for these scams as it is biologically impossible to grow taller through hormonal action if you've already stopped growing. The only way to grow taller if you're under 25 (although recommended age is under 18 for boys, and under 16 for girls) is to follow a proper exercise regimen.

To understand this, it's important to know how we grow tall. When we are first born, our bones largely consist of flexible cartilage tissue. With age, this cartillage fuses together to form solid bone. Until late puberty, the growth plates located at the ends of the bones in our body gradually lengthen. This growth slows and eventually stops at the end of puberty, or approximately age 21 in men (although it varies from person to person). Not even hormone treatments or vitamin supplements can make them grow again.

Exercising regularly right from a young age can speed up your growth process as well as make your bones healthier - something that'll help you a lot at later stages in your life. By maintaining good habits - regular exercise, a healthy diet - your bones will increase in density and strength.

A significant advantage of exercising is that it releases Human Growth Hormone (HGH), which is the single most important contributing factor to growth in human beings. A larger release of HGH translates into accelerated growth.

Exercises that are routinely helpful in increasing your height include stretching, yoga based exercises, sprinting, jumping, muscle building exercises. A carefully planned routine of such exercises can work wonders in not only helping you grow taller, but also keep your body metabolism and fat percentage in check.
