Drinking Water Safety Is A Real Concern
Drinking water safety often appears in the headlines when a major contamination story appears and highlights the issue. But, then the following day another more newsworthy story appears, and the previous story is all but forgotten.
How sad as the problem is still there, and the health implications are according to many health experts quite real and potentially life threatening if you believe most of it.
You can understand my surprise when I came across an interesting fact, one from the Ralph Nader Research Institute which claimed that U.S. drinking water contains over 2,100 toxic chemicals that can cause cancer.
I've also discovered that the number of synthetic chemicals we use in making our lives so comfortable and cosseted is over 80,000. But, this comes at a considerable price to our health, as we are now starting to link such use to a dramatic increase in degenerative diseases.
So, drinking water safety has made many of us who are becoming aware of such dangers, sit up and think.
The real culprits are these so called synthetic organic chemicals or SOCs, plus our reliance on pesticides and herbicides just adds to the cocktail of substances that find their way unto our domestic supplies.
Even treatment centers don't always perform adequately, as random testings have shown up traces of weed killers and pesticides. Officials say there's no danger to public health but how often has such advice proved different in reality.
We need to be thinking of using some type of home water filtration, as a reliable and cost effective method of defense. Don't leave matters to chance any longer, my main site talks about what else to take on board when thinking about this very important issue of drinking water safety.
